Slacker.

Hello. My name is Brenna, and I have been a slacker for the past three months.
Now, I know like no one besides Michelle and Kyle will even read this, but oh well. I am gonna write it anyways.
Next week I am going to science camp with a couple of sixth grade classes. I will be a counselor, in charge of making sure the kids are safe and don't pull each others hair out. It should be fun, except for the fact that I am missing a week of school. Pas grave (it means not a problem in french).
I am also currently working on a school project on an influential American. I chose Marilyn Monroe. I think Michelle was the one to originally get me interested in Marilyn. I posted once about Marilyn, however, so I won't say anymore about her today.
Can I just say quickly how shocked I was by Mackenzie Phillips news announcement? All I kept thinking about when I saw her on television was "she was Fi's mom!" mainly because I found So Weird on youtube and have been watching it occasionally since June.Haha. Sorry that was really random.
Anyways, I will hopefully post more often/find stuff to post about. I hope all is going well in your lives!!!!
Much love and admiration,
B

You're Fired!

So it is official, if I were a professional blogger, I would be fired. I mean honestly it has been like a month since I have updated. How ridiculous. There is so much to tell you all and at the same time, not much to say at all because really, I don't think you all really car about my strange travels. Oh well, you will just have to sit through my crazy antics. Let's see, my first trip was one of great trials and tribulation. I went on a mission trip to New Mexico with my church. It sounds like a lot of fun in theory, but in all actuality it is a lot of work. I met two children while working on an Indian reservation, KC and Tony. Neither of them really spoke English, but through their hugs and smiles, they both touched my heart. Their great grandmother, Margaret, spoke very kind words to the ten teens and three adults who went on the trip with us. She bestowed upon us her wisdom of the ages and told us that any one of us would be welcome in her or her family's home for the rest of our lives because we helped her when she no longer could help herself. Her words were incredible touching and even brought a few of the boys to tears. We also had the oppurtunity to help at the local senior center for the tribes elders. Megan and I had fun doing there aerobics with them.
After New Mexico, I had a week at home to clean, pack, and stock up on essentials before I flew cross-country to beautiful New York. It rained a lot, which was refreshing compared to the extremely high temperature at home. I got to see a lot of family and got to stay at my home away from home at my cousins Carmen and Andrew's house along with my favorite children in the world, Sophia, Alex, Andrew, and Oscar. It will be hard to go a full year without seeing them again.
While I was back-east there was also a handful of birthdays to celebrate. First off my cousin Eliza, then my grandma turned an impressive 90, my brothers birthday, and then finally my fathers birthday. I also celebrated my half birthday!
The second week in New York was spent traveling around New England, as well as, seeing my brother's new stomping grounds seeing as he is moving in ten days. It will be hard to have him so far away, especially on my mother, but it is exciting to see him embark on this new journey. I know that he will be amazing at grad school. We also got to go the Ben and Jerry's Factory, the adorable Burlington(Vermont), Salem, and Boston.
I know, lots of traveling. It might seem like that would be all one could pack into one summer, but I actually have more plans. You see I got back at noon, and I leave Tuesday night for comic con! Another terribly exciting trip! I am trying not to get too excited, but that is proving to be extremely difficult.
Anywho, I will try and write from sunny San Diego and provide pictures of amazing celebrities!

Second the Best!

Hey!
So, the second episode of GP is live!! It is called procrastinate. This one is definitely better than the first... You should all check it out. Stay tuned for next wednesday when you see what my text was about. It's nice and juicy!
Oh, btw, I just found out that a girl I went to elementary school with (she is two years younger) is being accused of murder. How scary is that? She allegedly murdered her mother with her 19 year old boyfriend. I definitely remember her being a little strange. Anyways, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Hopefully this whole mess will be sorted out. If you want to check out her story just click here.

Marilyn.

I have always loved the glamour of old Hollywood. Stars like Cary Grant (who was the same birthday as me), Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, and Jimmy Stewart have always fascinated me. They just seemed to have it all together. Now, I realize this is because there were no tabloids back then. Stars did not have to worry about tabloids, they were simply glamorous. Marilyn Monroe never used to fascinate me, until a few days ago. As you probably can tell, I love quotes. I believe that words are the one thing you have complete control over, and if you take that responsibility on, you can come up with some pretty phenomenal things to say. I have recently been browsing through different quotes, and keep finding amazing quotes by Marilyn Monroe. She truly was more than just a sex symbol. Don't get me wrong, she did live up to that reputation, and fully acknowledged what others thought of her, but I am beginning to understand the woman behind the facade. Below, I have provided a few of her quotes. These few words completely changed my opinion of her.
"I knew I belonged to the public and to the world, not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else."
“I want to grow old without facelifts... I want to have the courage to be loyal to the face I've made. Sometimes I think it would be easier to avoid old age, to die young, but then you'd never complete your life, would you? You'd never wholly know you”
"If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere. "
"It's often just enough to be with someone. I don't need to touch them. Not even talk. A feeling passes between you both. You're not alone."
"There was my name up in lights. I said, 'God, somebody's made a mistake.' But there it was, in lights. And I sat there and said, 'Remember, you're not a star.' Yet there it was up in lights."
"It's all make believe, isn't it?"
"Dreaming about being an actress, is more exciting then being one. "
"Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul."
What did I tell you? She was soo much deeper than she is given credit for. I am gonna do more research on her, try and find out a little bit more about who she really was.
By the way, if you like Dashboard Confessional, check out The Spill Canvas. They are actually quite amazing.

If today was your last day...

So recently I have been hearing the song by Nickelback called If Today Was Your Last Day, not the best song , but it has made me think. The lyrics say quite simply, "If today was your last day
and tomorrow was too late, could you say goodbye to yesterday? Would you live each moment like your last? Leave old pictures in the past? Donate every dime you have? If today was your last day."
This has gotten me thinking. I believe that this song is asking us if we were to die tomorrow, what actions would we take, but I, having the crazy imagination that I do, decided to look at the song differently. If the world were going to end tomorrow, how would mankind act? Would the world be completely chaotic because everyone decided to be rebellious and do the things they were too scared to do otherwise, or would we be overwhelmed with the monstrosity of the situation and begin to forgive our enemies, make ourselves look better for judgement day? Just think about it...

Now I present a third option. Would we try and deny the inevitable? Would we fight our hardest to keep our race alive?
This seems like it would be a great screenplay. Haha. Unfortunately the basic idea has been used far too many times. I will consider it and get back to you all. In the mean time, what do you think would happen?
Amber, Amee, and I sat down today and mapped out the rest of the first season of GP. The nice thing about producing a webshow is that no one can stop you from making more episodes. The first episode was off to a great start. Within an hour of posting we got 45 views. Only four of them were Amee and I. I apologize for the two minutes of black at the end. We are still just learning. I promise you the rest of the season actually has a storyline. It should be interesting with the perfect blend of comedy and drama. Yup, we are doing a dramedy! If you would like to be a part of our show (Neil, don't worry you will be a part of it), please comment below. We are coming up on a few episodes where it would be useful to have extras, and possible camera help.
I hope you are all doing well! Enjoy the summer vacation!!
