Do you believe in fairies?

I promised you that I would analyze the quote I left yesterday, so here goes nothing. When I read this quote a scene from the most recent Peter Pan comes to mind, when Tinkerbell is dying and the only way to bring her back to life is to chant, "I do believe in fairies. I do! I do!" Great movie by the way.
I don't know why exactly this comes to mind. Probably because if the lost boys didn't believe so strongly in Tinkerbell she would no longer exist. Does this mean that if we, as a human race decided to stop believing in something it would cease to exist?
Interesting to think about. Anyway, to me, the quote is saying that if you live your life only seeing things you know to be true (famine, war, death) then you won't notice all the wonderfully good aspects of life out there.
When I was watching Gilmore Girls yesterday, Lorelei was speaking about how if you start watching The Today Show when it first starts, and then watch it all the way through, the topics discussed on the show get happier as the morning goes on. She explains that this is only so that people know the harsh parts of the world, when they first wake up, but after they have gotten ready and are going off to work, the news plays happier stories. This is solely because we would be too scared to go outside otherwise.
I think I just got off topic, but let's try and connect the two, shall we?
The today show has found those small amazing bits of happiness in everyday life. Can't we do this as well?
