Thought for the day...

So yesterday in Chemistry we watched a documentary called 11th hour with Leonardo DiCaprio. It was quite depressing saying how we are all going to become extinct and the Earth will begin to look like Venus. While I was viewing this I had a sort of epiphany. What if the reason the world has famines and viruses like AIDS and cancer is because the Earth is trying to balance out the over-population issue on its own. If this is the case should we really try and find that cure for cancer, or send aid to other countries? After pondering this I decided the answer is yes, solely because if I were starving I wouldn't care about the Earth's future seeing as I wouldn't be alive to see it. Sometimes we must focus on the present to provide a better future.
With that being said I would like to leave you all with a quote to ponder:

"Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love."Rainer Maria Rilke
Have a wonderful Wednesday,
Bee

  1. I was thinking about that yesterday too after you brought it up! Maybe our our species is supposed to become extincet from over-population. It seems complicated to think about, but maybe we are supposed to go extinct and all this turmoil is supposed to happen and our efforts to be "green" is maybe intefering with the way our race is supposed to die out. Sounds a little depressing, but its just a thought!

so does that mean that if we're trying to help the planet, we're actually just killing it? thats so depressing!! so does that mean we shouldn't save the planet?
